Disability and family pension are two new schemes that are being implemented in Kosovo. The Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Arban Abrashi said in last night's episode of Info Magazine on Klan Kosova.
According to him, these schemes will contribute to the welfare of citizens.
"As is in the rules, these new schemes are in force and citizens can obtain applications for these pension schemes. Citizens from today can go and visit the pension offices and from Monday they can place their applications” said Abrashi.
He said that the disability pension begins with a baseline of 75 euro.
During the debate, Abrashi spoke about the veterans issue. He said that there are about 40 million Euro that are going only to the veterans.
"We disburse pension to all those who qualify for it. With the veterans, we have agreed that the sum will be 0.7% of the GDP. We have about 90 million for this scheme and for the family pension scheme" he said.
According to him, a total of 29 thousand veterans are currently receiving pensions.
The Minister of Labour and Social Welfare also spoke about the number of the unemployed persons in Kosovo.
"Today we have about 350 thousand who are unemployed. Last years number are around 26% to 27%, which is a decline compared with 2014 "
When asked about his hiring of his daughter in law of the Prime Minister, in the ministry that Abrashi leads, Abrashi confirmed this saying that the wife of the son of Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has been employed in a project and that there is nothing illegal about it.
Social dialogue is implemented in cooperation with the Kosovar Stability Initiative (IKS) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES).
