Welcome to IKS

The Kosovo Stability Initiative (IKS) is an independent research institute

WHO WE ARE

The Kosovar Stability Initiative (IKS) is an independent, not-for-profit think tank focusing on empirical research and analysis of socio-economic development in Kosovo.

IKS was created in 2004 in recognition of the pressing need for independent, in-depth analysis of important issues involved in promoting stability and prosperity in Kosovo.

OUR OBJECTIVE

IKS continually seeks to support men and women by increasing their awareness of key policy and legislative issues and debates that can have a profound impact on themselves, their families and their communities.

We work diligently to inform public policies with empirical evidence and research, to facilitate the participation of men and women in policy reform processes with a focus on good governance, social justice & rights, human rights, environment, culture, and EU integration.

OUR TOPICS

Social Dialogue

This involves negotiation, consultation or exchange of information between government representatives, employers and employees on issues of common interest in relation to economic and social policies.

Good Governance

Kosovar Stability Initiative develops its activities focusing on increasing capacity of the Ministries and the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo in developing new politics and legislations.

Anti-corruption

We have a key role in fighting corruption, from monitoring public services and denouncing bribes, contributing in implementing international instruments in fighting corruption.

Cultural Heritage

We aim to contribute at enhancing intercultural dialogue, social cohesion, and economic development through an integrated and inclusive approach to ensure the long-term sustainability of cultural heritage.

MISSION

The mission of the Kosovar Stability Initiative is to further the well-being of Kosovar citizen, both women, and man, through empirical research, initiation and informing well-informed public policies, awareness-raising, regional cooperation, advocacy, and networking.

VISION

Since March 13, 2020, when the closure occurred and the first cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kosovo, the main societal concern was how well a developing country would be able to manage a potential crisis and that, in an unprecedented time.

This report is the final result of the activity aimed at measuring the implementation of labor and employment legislation in the private sector in Kosovo. The report summarizes labor legislation and laws related to occupational health and safety, as well as the institutional framework for their implementation.

The dialogue between key factors such as the government, trade unions and employers' organizations is still not at the right level, which remains the reason for not creating a proper system.
